2018 LLS Woman of the Year
Our very own Mrs. Kennetra Searcy won Man/Woman of the Year! As you know, though, everyone wins when cancer loses. Sadly for Kennetra, her uncle passed away in February 2017 from this horrible cancer and that was her way of trying to understand and help out further to bring cancer DOWN!!! Thanks to many supporting, Kennetra efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people who've helped has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting closer to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
2nd winner Nneka Jones as a Freshman
Our 2nd scholarship winner Nneka Jones in her first 2 weeks of college being on Agnes Scott College campus, meeting new students while having a good time away from studying. Nneka is currently preparing for a Global Journeys trip in the spring meanwhile still holding true to the other classes she's in and doing very well. Nneka has also expressed "that without The Kennetra Searcy Legacy Scholarship that this opportunity would not have been possible, therefore she is eternally grateful."
Introducing our first Woman of the Year candidate Kennetra Searcy. Kennetra is the current Ms. Black USA, a former collegiate track and field athlete at UNC, and a certified personal trainer. She is the wife of Tennessee Titans defensive back Da'Norris Searcy and the mom of three-year-old Kenna. Kennetra is competing in memory of her uncle who lost his battle to leukemia in February. We're excited to have her on our team and know she will do great things to make someday today!

Making the Dean's List: Carlisha McKenzie
Making the Dean's List is an academic achievement that many students strive to achieve before their undergraduate degree is complete yet only few are recognized for levels of high scholarship demonstrated in the classroom.
Carlisha is the second oldest of three siblings. She plans to major in Chemistry to become a forensic pathologist. She would like to become a forensic pathologist to make a difference by turning a tragedy into something positive, by saving lives and giving closure to families. And she has done just that!!
Carlisha has received 3.85 GPA and made the Dean's List her first semester as a Freshman at the University Of Memphis in TN. I am proud to announce this great accomplishment of my 2017 Kennetra Searcy Legacy Scholarship first winner.
Continue forward to greatness, set goals and reach them, be a role model and STAY FOCUS!
Again to Carlisha McKenzie, CONGRATULATIONS FROM KSLS!!!!
