Kennetra Searcy wants to see young black women get a college education. As for Kennetra, she is leading the sponsorship of scholarships for high school seniors in her name. The KSLS provides $5,000 to one deserving high school senior for her time in college. Here is what you need to know to qualify for our scholarship for African-American women:

Scholarship entries are only accepted online through the KSLS scholarship website at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Entrants must submit a completed entry form with all required information before college scholarship funds will be awarded. All information submitted on the entry form by the entrant will be verified. If any false or misleading information is submitted on the entry form, the student will be disqualified without notification to the entrant.
Each entrant is allowed only one entry submission. Any attempt to enter again under a different name, address, etc., will automatically disqualify the entrant without notification to the entrant.
The entrant selected as the winner is required to submit the name and contact information of her chosen college/university for verification of registration and payment of the scholarship to the school. All forms and processes must be completed within 60 days of contest end date or the scholarship is forfeited.
In no way does KSLS tolerate misconduct of any sort resulting in suspension and/or delay of graduation as this is historically a rare occurrence. However, should an instance arise in which misconduct by a student winner of the KSLS is alleged to have occurred, KSLS will investigate promptly, while given the student time to comply with KSLS about the incident.
This applies to all selected winner(s) and will be handled in the matter of being fair and seeing the final decision of receiving whether KSLS will be awarded.
A total of $5,000 is awarded to the winner. The winner will receive a scholarship of $5,000 being used in fall and spring semester along with an double knotted purple and black honor cord, congratulatory glass plaque and an a certificate of achievement. The scholarship is paid directly to the student and the educational institution in the student’s account to be used for tuition and/or books for the fall 2019 semester. The scholarship monies may be used over a period not to exceed four years.
The scholarship winner is selected by members of the KSLS Scholarship Foundation, including Mrs. Kennetra Searcy, from among valid entries received at the conclusion of the contest period.
All applicants will be notified via email of their status within 30 days after the application deadline has closed.
KSLS will contact the winner by email and phone within 30 business days of contest end-date, using contact information given by the entrant during the application process. The winner has 10 calendar days from date email is sent/phone message is left to respond and verify she meets the eligibility requirements as defined on the scholarship contest website. High school winners will use the form provided in the email from KSLS, to be completed by their high school counselor/advisor and fax, scan, or mail to the KSLS national office.
Once you are confirmed as the winner, KSLS will send you the appropriate college/university forms to complete for a check to be issued to your chosen school and deposited into your student account. No funds will be issued directly to individuals. All forms and processes must be completed within 60 days of the contest end-date, or your scholarship is forfeited.
The scholarship applies to a four-year college/university school based in the United States that has completed and received accreditation from an agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
Winner will be notified for appropriate recognition to include award assemblies, graduation ceremonies, and newspaper announcements.
Winner’s name will be posted on the KSLS website in June of 2019.
